Of all the suggestions Dan Voelpel has in his column today on events that will help bring people to Tollefson Plaza, I think I'd most like to see the ice rink in December.
When I was in high school, the Lakewood Mall put an ice rink in their parking lot over the winter.
Why not have one downtown this year? Some hot cocoa sponsored by the DMG? Shops along Pacific near UWT open till 7? Thanksgiving 'til New Years.
Count me and my triple axle in.

I totally agree and was glad to see that item in Dan's list.
A couple years ago when I bounced this idea off Marty Campbell (then heading up the downtown merchants)
it didn't seem to make an impression.
I think it's a no-brainer and I'm sure once the Chamber takes ownership of programming the plaza they would agree too. At least I hope they would.
I liked his whole list! This idea and the Bing fest in particular.
