The Internet is Forever

I've got a new tech column up on Spew today.

From the column:
After the most intensive vanity search I’d ever conducted, one thing was certain: I couldn’t take it back. I have 2210 blog posts, 1195 tweets, and who-knows-how-many comments on other websites. By page 20, you start to get results from aggregator websites reposting some of my blog posts from certain keywords, which meant that even taking down my own entries wouldn’t necessarily solve the problem.
I couldn't quite make it work, but for some reason I got it into my head that I wanted to end the column with the last words of the play No Exit. Here's how I ended the column.
I continue to remind myself before I post anything: this will be around forever.

Forever.

The Internet is starting to bring new meaning to the word.
What I wanted to add was this:
Well, let’s get on with it…
Which is what the play ends on when the main characters realize that they have forever to torture each other in their own private hell and how significant that word is.

I eventually decided it didn't make any sense, was pretentious, and also way too obscure. But since that's never stopped me from posting anything here ... now you know my secret plan to insert French existential drama into my technology column.
